Questionnaire creation

as part of our research and evaluation, we had to gather audience feedback to see firstly what kind of films they would like to see and their film trailer preferences and then if they liked our trailer after watching it. this way we could see if and how our trailer appealed to our target audience.

copyright permition

During the film making process we required the use of some copyright protected items such as the use of the japan street picture from a collection of downloadable folders and the music for our trailer. We decided that the best course of action would be to send an e-mail to all of the people who we would need to request permission from, the owners of the rights to these images and songs.

skills development

During my A2 project i was able to develop my skills further from what skills i had already gained from AS. these included; Skills development of my camera technique. i was able to use a new, digital style of camera which i was not able to last year and therefor develop my skills. this year i have learned that a skilled camera man needs a steady hand, the camera can not always be on a tripod or a level surface so when holding the camera it is important that you keep it as still as possible. this is not easy outside due to wind, cold temperature and other distractions. another skill i developed this year was editing. As the director this year i was also in charge of overseeing all aspects of the piece in order that the project would meet our high expectations. this meant i had more input in editing this year than last and could dervelop my skills, such as; cutting scenes together, slide transitions, editing out scenes wich needed to be retaken and deciding what to cut from our trailer to shorten it. a big part of my skills development was based in Directing our piece. as it is my lifes ambition to become a film director i was given this role within our group of set. This year i was sole director of our piece aswell as doing other things within the group such as helping with the ancillary tasks and some camera work. this meant that, wereas last year i was co director of my group, this year i had all the responsibility, meaning i was in charge of the whole project. this was hard but i wass able to quickly overcome problems and direct the group quickly and confidently. another big part of my role as director was organising the scenes and where we were going to be, when, what to bring and what scenes to film on what day. this was also hard but i found that by planning everything in notes i could maximise my efficiency.

target audience

This is a picture of a member of our target audience. Our target audience is people from the ages of 15 to 25, probably men who are in to action films as a genre and many of whom will have seen films such as Starsky and Hutch and may have seen Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes on TV.

plan for camera angles

Amongst some of the more unusual camera angles and techniques we used were these; 1: we used the boot cover of Robins car to create a stable ledge on wich we could film some of the scenes including; toby's shooting and the scene in wich curtis and summers stroll down the street.

we also mounted the camera onto the side of the car when trying to film shots in a smaller space. this can be seen in scenes such as the gun exchange scene.

Logos

A film is usualy produced or helped out by film companys e.g. Spyglass Pictures or Dreamworks. We did not have any input from production or film companies but we felt that to reach our full potential and create the feeling of a film trailer for a real film we needed to include some made up companies and logos. we split ino groups of two and went about it. their were a few technical difficulties but after a few days we had created two logos. Phoenix Pictures and Watermark Entertainment. i took these images home and loaded them up onto my computer where i had animation software. i eddited the pictures into two animations and forwarded them to harry and robin to edit into the film in the appropriate place. unfortunatly one of the pictures was unable to run so we decided to add in the origional picture and create a fade to fit it into our film. below are the pictures of the two logos.
